The M.S.C (Millwall Supporters Club), was formed at the start of the 1998-99 Season. The Club felt that it was important for supporters to have an official body that would provide an avenue to air their opinions and make their views known collectively to the Club. At the same time the Club would provide a range of benefits that would be available exclusively to members.
The proposal was endorsed by both the Club and a steering committee appointed to get the MSC off the ground. The steering committee was made up of members from the two fanzines, The Lion Roars and No-One Likes Us, and from representatives of the fanzine web site House of Fun, as well as various supporters, Junior Lions and Club representatives.
The steering committee recommended free membership of the MSC to all season ticket holders and this was agreed.
At the end of the 1998-99 season a committee of five was voted by members to represent the interests of the fans. The committee is chaired by Paul Welch, a local businessman and life-long fan. The committee meet as necessary and Paul has regular meetings with the Club Chairman and General Manager to put across the Members views and concerns.
The naming of the stands was considered and following a vote, MSC members voted for the South Stand to be named 'The Cold Blow Lane Stand'. The signage was put in place for the start of the 1999-2000 season.
A number of events have also been organised since the launch of the MSC, including fans' forums, a disco and a quiz night. The fans' forums are attended by the Chairman and Club management and are popular events. The committee aim to continue organising further events to strengthen supporter-relations between the fans and the club. Evidence of the good relationship between the Club and the MSC was provided when the Club provided at its expense 20 coaches for MSC members to travel to the Wigan play off match. The newly formed MSC football team remains undefeated after its home and away matches against Preston during the 1999/2000 season.
