Keynsham topple Lionesses
Millwall Lionesses unbeaten run was finally brought to an end in the Women's Premier League as Keynsham Town Ladies won 2-0 at Carshalton Athletic.
Player-manager Pru Buckley made a change to the starting line-up with Victoria Boardman partnering Mamus Emosivwe in attack.
Millwall had the first opportunity to break the deadlock early on, but Jo Woodgates' corner was swept away at the near post by full back Andrea Alexandru.
At the other end Lionesses goalkeeper Claire Lacey held a shot that zipped off the slippery surface from Keynsham striker Mimica Pavlovic.
Keynsham took the lead on 15 minutes when a poor back pass saw Lacey kick clear, but the ball fell to striker Sheila Rocha who rolled it into the empty net.
The Lionesses tried in vain to get their usual attacking game going, but struggled to make any real impact for the remainder of the first half.
Millwall improved after the break, and introduced former Arsenal ace Leanne Champ to the action on the hour mark.
But within minutes of entering the fray, Champ's side found themselves trailing 2-0 when Keynsham sub Hajrija Sabic latched onto an Ana Bruni pass and calmly slotted home to put the result beyond doubt.
The Lionesses now trail second-placed Barnet by four points, but with four games remaining and the two promotion rivals still to meet on easter Sunday, there is still all to play for.
Millwall have a great opportunity to gain instant revenge for last weekend's shock defeat when they face a long trip to Somerset to play Keynsham again this Sunday.
