In 1990-91, Teddy Sheringham broke all Millwall's goalscoring records. He
passed Derek Possee's total of 87 in the league, FA and League Cup with
a goal againTeddy Sheringhamst Sheffield Wednesday on 26 January 1991 (if Associate and
Full Members' Cups are counted, then the record
went against Leicester City on Boxing Day 1990).
On 16th February 1991, his four goals against
Plymouth took him past Possee's record of 79
League goals. In March 1991, his goal against
Brighton gave him 99 senior goals overall, beating
John Calvey's record which had stood since 1905.
Sheringham came through The Lions youth ranks to
sign as a professional in January 1984. After being
on the fringe of the first team, and after loan spell with Aldershot, he began
1986-87 as a first choice striker, playing in all 50 games to lead the club's
scorers. He missed only one game in the Second Division championship
season of 1987-88, when he was again top scorer. He formed an excellent
playing partnership with Tony Cascarino, who added strength and bustle to
Sheringham's guile and outstanding ball control.

In March 1989, Sheringham added and England B caps to his 11 won at
Youth level. During 1990-91 he proved devastating in front of goal as he
drove Millwall towards the pay-offs, adding some goals from free kicks to
his repertoireTeddy Sheringham, and he was voted 'Player of the Year'. He signed for
Nottingham Forest for around £2m in 1991, after The
Lions failed to regain top flight status via the play-offs.
In 1992, he was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur for
around the same fee. He stayed at White Hart Lane
for five years before Manchester Utd signed him for
£3m from Spurs in 1997. He has also maintained a
regular presence for England at International level,
playing in Euro 96 and World Cup 98 and in the 2002
World Cup squad, appearing in four out England's
five games. He had the most successful era of his
career at United, winning everything there is to win in the game. The F.A
Cup, Premiership title, League Cup, European Cup and the World Super
Cup are all honours added to his name whilst playing for Utd. The most
memorable would be coming on as a substitute in the European Cup Final
of 98-99 to score the equaliser and set up the winner for Solskjaer all within
 the space of two minutes.
In 2001, Sheringham returned to Tottenham and in February 2003 scored
his 300th career goal against Sunderland. Later that year he moved to
Portsmouth and in 2004, to West Ham, where his scoring is a prolific as
ever. His tally for the 2004/5 season stands at 18 goals
