Alf joined Millwall in May 1922, after playing as an amateur with Kingstonian and for Brentford when they joined the Third Division in 1920. He appeared in 75 Football League matches for the Bees, scoring four goals. Amos played in nine of the 11 matches in 1926, when Millwall created a Football league record for the most consecutive matches without conceding a goal. He was equally at home in the right- or left-half position, stout in defence, a vigorous tackler and a man who supported |
his forwards well with his clever footwork and accurate passing.

He missed a penalty at Crystal Palace in the last game of the 1926-27 season, when the Lions won 6-1 to chalk up their record away Football League win. A year later, he won a Third Division (South) Championship medal and a London Challenge Cup winners' medal. Amos reverted to right-half when Len Graham came in at left-half. |
After eight years at The Den, Amos left to become player-coach of Hitchin Town. On 25th October 1921 he represented the F.A against the Royal Navy & Royal Marines X1. Alf passed away in Dunstable on 9th March 1964.
