Gary grabs late leveller
Coventry City U18s 2 Millwall U18s 2
Gary Bowes struck a late leveller as Millwall secured a valuable awayday point at Coventry City.
In an entertaining encounter both sides created a stack of chances, but had to be satisfied with sharing the spoils.
The Lions went in at the break a goal to the good thanks to Keirnan Mason's 25th minute strike who was making only his second full start of the season.
The home side rallied in the second period and forced their way into a 2-1 lead, but an 85th minute strike by Bowes levelled matters.
Speaking after the match coach Scott Fitzgerald commented: "Although I'm disappointed that we did not pick up all three points, I thought it was a fair result with a reasonably young side".
He continued, "Our two centre backs Billy Jeffreys and Charlie Read did really well and I was pleased to see defender Jack Sim come on as substitute following his long lay-off with injury since December.
Another important positive of the day was that full back Andy Callaghan got some more minutes of playing time under his belt as he slowly but surely makes his way back to full fitness."
Millwall: Woolley, Callaghan ( Sim, 60mins), Ebsworth, Jeffreys, Read, Keen, Bowes, Rogers (Janneh, 80mins), Taylor, Mason (Marquis, 60mins), James. Sub not used: Beckles.
